More than 200 riders along the capital streets enjoyed the bike ride in the beautiful sunny day. The 2nd of February is celebrated as Youth Day in Azerbaijan Republic. To mark this day Azerbaijan Cycling Federation (AzVIF) in co-operation with the Move Forward Social Union and with the support of the Silk Way International Union of Youth and the Boulevard Administration office held a "Youth Day" bike ride through the Baku streets.
20 January - Representatives of Cycling Federation of Azerbaijan have visited the Alley of Martyrs to pay tribute to the victims of the Bloody January tragedy on the National Mourning Day. They laid flowers at the graves of the sons and daughters who have died for the independence of the Republic of Azerbaijan.
Maksym Averin has qualified for the 2016 Olympics in Rio, and will be the first Azeri to appear in Olympic cycling events. Ioannis Tamouridis too has qualified his home nation of Greece and will appear in the Olympic games for the second time
Azerbaijan's National road Elite and Synergy Baku Cycling Project Continental team rider Maxim Averin has won his licence to the 31st Summer Olympic Games to be held in August in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. There is an official letter sent by the UCI (Union Cicliste Internationale) to the Azerbaijan National Olympic Committee and Azerbaijan Cycling Federation. The letter approves Maxim to represent Azerbaijan in the elite road race in this grandiose event.
