Ismayilli, 04.05.2017 - After an impressive solo effort in the final 15km of today's stage, Kirill Pozdnyakov (Synergy Baku Cycling Project) did the double in winning both the stage and taking the race lead of the Tour d'Azerbaidjan.

Nature

Relief of the Republic of Azerbaijan is various. There are mainly two landforms - plains and mountains. The mountains cover about 50 percent of the territory of Azerbaijan. Average altitude of the Republic is up to 657 meters. The highest point is Bazardyuzyu (4466 meters), the lowest is the Caspian lowlands - 28 meters.

There are about 8400 major and minor rivers in the territory of Azerbaijan which are parts of the basin of the Caspian Sea. Azerbaijan has a rich flora and fauna. 

Tourism

Modern hotels, spa centers, guest houses, museums and restaurants annually attract about six million visitors in Baku and regions of Azerbaijan. There are also a number of health resorts in Azerbaijan. One of them is Naftalan which is very popular among the tourists. Shahdag Winter-Summer Tourist Complex in Gusar region offers great opportunities for winter tourism in Azerbaijan. The capital of the country Baku attracts tourists with its ancient monuments. Ichari Shahar (Old City), Shirvanshahs Palace, museums and galleries are considered very interesting for foreign tourists visiting our country. Five-star hotels in Baku offer high quality services ensuring rest and entertainment of the guests. Location of Baku on the shores of the Caspian Sea enabled the development of the beach tourism. Beach season in our Republic lasts from May to the end of September. In summer the temperature of water in the beaches reaches +24 +26°–°. Entertainment centres along the seashore are favourite places for rest for local population and foreign tourists.
